STOP WORRYING ABOUT YOUR UPCOMING INTERVIEW

As a recruiter, I have seen first-hand the impact solid preparation can have on interview outcomes, and what can happen when people don't take the time to prepare. You can be supremely qualified, but if you don't do the work before the interview, there is a good chance you won't make it through.

In my experience, the job candidates who got an offer were the ones who were well-prepared.

I've developed a structured preparation toolkit that will help you stand out against other candidates vying for the same positions. I'll lead you through the process of identifying interview topics, developing answers to some tough questions and handling challenging topics like compensation and resume gaps.

Whether you have a few hours or a few days to prepare, you'll learn how to make the most of your time and ace that interview

What you will get out of this toolkit

How the toolkit is organized

Identify your top skills and attributes for the position

Uncover the sweet spot between your strengths and what the company is looking for by completed exercises that align your skills and attributes to key hiring requirements for the position and company.

This information will help you prepare for interview questions and will get you out of Q and A mode, so you can market yourself effectively.

Research the company

The company research exercise will help you anticipate interview questions, and understand how the position you are interviewing for fits into the broader company strategy. This knowledge will give you the opportunity to have deeper and more strategic conversations with your interviewers, and to ask them great questions.

Master interview questions

Companies usually have a specific interviewing style, which you will uncover in your company research. Learn about 5 common types of interview questions and do exercises aimed at identifying the most likely to be asked during your interviews. I will cover everything from questions about your work history to behavioral and case study questions.

You'll receive frameworks, best practices and lists of practice questions with prompts.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Who is this toolkit for?

This toolkit was developed for jobseekers anticipating an upcoming interview. It was developed for people who know they need to prepare, but aren’t sure how to spend their time, people who want more structure in their interview preparation process, and people who want insider recruiter knowledge on what companies are looking for.

What’s included in the toolkit?

  • Short videos introducing each section and a checklist to keep yourself on track.
  • An exercise to help you identify what you are looking for in a company so you know what questions to ask.
  • A simple process tool for identifying the top skills you will need to exhibit during your interviews.
  • A company research exercise that will help you learn about the company’s challenges, hiring philosophy and what they value in new hires. The goal of this exercise is to help you demonstrate a deep knowledge of the company and how you align and to identify the core attributes that your target company wants to see (that aren’t included in the job description).
  • Video instruction on five different types of interview questions, information on what recruiters are looking for, exercises to help you pinpoint specific questions and lists of practice interview questions.
  • Discussion videos on talking about compensation, explaining career gaps and more.

Is this a training?

Think of it as a guided process, with a focus on tools to make it easier. There are a few instruction videos: a discussion of specific types of interview questions, and how to address challenges like talking about compensation and answering “do you have any questions for me?”

How long will it take to go through it?

It really depends on how much time you have. You’ll get value from the toolkit even if you only have a few hours to prepare. Because there is research involved, you can go as deep as you want. I recommend spending four hours to complete the exercises, plus additional time to run through practicing answers to high-priority interview questions.

Does this cover specific interview questions?

Yes! We can’t guarantee what specific questions you will be asked, but the exercises included in the toolkit will help you anticipate the topics you will likely be asked about and structure answers to questions about them. You’ll get lists of sample interview questions, as well as information on what interviewers are looking for in answers.

I have a unique challenge. What are some of them that you cover?

Resume gaps, answering questions about being let go from an employer, responding to “tell me about yourself,” and more.

Will I learn how to talk about compensation expectations?

Oh yes! These conversations can be uncomfortable because you don’t want to “tip your hand.” You’ll learn about WHY recruiters ask these questions and some of the things you can say to answer the question without answering the question.

Do you supply practice questions?

Yes, there are practice questions related to multiple categories of interview questions covered, including those vague interview questions you might be concerned about.

Is there instruction in answering certain types of questions?

Yes, there are five types of interview questions covered: historical, vague, behavioral, case study and puzzle.

How long will I have access to this toolkit?

You will have access to this toolkit on Teachable for 3 months, but all of the written materials are available for download, so grab them during your three month access period and you can use them forever.

Will this toolkit help me with all of my interviews or just interviews for a particular job with a single company?

The toolkit provides the most value when your preparation is focused in a single position at a single company. Every company and job have different hiring requirements and the process is all about identifying them and highlighting your fit. But doing the process once will short-cut it for future preparation processes. For example, you will be identifying your top/marketable job skills, and how to answer questions about them. These types of questions are likely to come up in multiple interviews. The process gets easier and shorter the more times you do it.

Does this cover what companies are looking for in particular answers?

Yes! When there is underlying element recruiters are looking for, or a particular way you should answer a question, I provide that information. I can’t assure you that every interviewer or company will be looking at things the same way, but I do know how recruiters tend to think and interviewing practices and strategies companies employ.
